Hat-trick at the German Design Award 2023: Wöhner receives three awards
Rödental / Frankfurt am Main, 3 February 2023 – Wöhner, a leading supplier and global partner in the fields of energy distribution, control technology and renewable energies, received three awards at the German Design Award 2023. The company is a "Winner" in the category "Excellent Product Design - Industry" for the CrossMT solution, received a "Special Mention" in the category "Excellent Communications Design - Editorial" for the MOTUS C14 brochure and an additional "Special Mention" in the category "Excellent Communications Design - Web" for the website of Future Systems, a sister company of Wöhner.
The winner: the Wöhner CrossMT
By awarding it the title of "Winner", the German Design Council, which has been giving out the award since 2012, underlines the outstanding position of the CrossMT solution in the competition. With the electronic measurement technology module, Wöhner completes the entry into the digitalisation of the successful basic system CrossBoard and sets new standards in the digitalisation of central control cabinet components. In combination with various applications, the CrossMT adds intelligent functions and connectivity wherever the components do not have these functions. The innovative character is also reflected in the design: the translucent basic housing visually merges with the basic system, providing a good insight into the technology and including integrated status lighting. The interplay of concept and design was the reason why the CrossMT won the prestigious award in the field of industrial design.
Especially worth mentioning: the brochure about the MOTUS C14
The brochure, which was awarded a "Special Mention" by the jurors, was created as part of the MOTUS C14 product launch. In order to clearly differentiate the product from the competition right from the start, Wöhner developed a special publication that makes it possible to experience the advantages in a particularly vivid way. The luminous function of the MOTUS C14, which indicates the status of the device, was integrated into the cover of the brochure by means of LEDs and can be used by pressing a special button. Thus, the users hold a "luminous" publication in their hands, which ensures a high visual and recognition value. Additionally, the display ads in the inner section are covered with a spot varnish so that they are clearly highlighted.
Special Mention also for "Future Systems" website
In the digital category, Future Systems, a sister company of Wöhner, received a "Special Mention". Future Systems is a young company with a focus on smart solutions for sustainable electronic systems. Its area of activity includes individual prototypes and feasibility studies as well as the complete industrialisation of a product – from the idea to the production line. "Idea Hunters" is the guiding principle of Future Systems, which was taken up in the creation of the website. Ideas are not created in a linear way but by linking patterns, thoughts, notes and creative minds. Non-linear, collaborative, digital platforms such as Miro are representative of this. The canvas function plays a central role in the implementation of the website. This impressively conveys the way Future Systems works. In addition, a linear version was also developed, which can be accessed particularly quickly via the menu. The website attracts attention, offers unusual possibilities and conveys a dynamic and creative overall impression.
"Receiving several awards at the German Design Award is once again a reason for us to be pleased. It confirms our approach to continuously maximise performance, innovation potential and ease of use in our products," Philipp Steinberger, CEO of Wöhner, explains. "Design traditionally plays a central role at Wöhner and becomes even more important in the context of digital transformation. The Winner award in the category of industrial design and the Special Mentions in communication design are both confirmation and motivation for us to consistently continue on our path."
