Wöhner at Hannover Messe: Control cabinet innovations for more efficiency and sustainability

Supplier from Rödental presents wide range of products and services and participates in future

Rödental/Hanover, 13 April 2023 – Hannover Messe, the world's leading trade fair for industry, starts on 17 April 2023. Under this year's motto "Industrial Transformation – Making the Difference", it will focus on resource-saving, climate-neutral and resilient production. In this spirit, Wöhner, a globally active partner for power distribution, control technology and renewable energies, will also be presenting itself. 

The highlights at the Wöhner booth, number C66 in hall 12, include the four- and five-pole CrossBoard, as well as the electronic motor starter MOTUS C14 with extension, the measurement technology module CrossMT and the new measuring and monitoring modules. In addition, the company is presenting its basic systems 60Classic, 185 Power and the CrossBoard. 


The trade fair highlights at one glance:

Expanded CrossBoard: Tool-free assembly and the high safety standard due to the integrated touch-safe protection make the CrossBoard the optimal system solution for power distribution up to 160 A. The system can be expanded modularly for four- or five-pole applications. 

Softstart feature for the MOTUS C14: The electronic motor starter MOTUS C14 now has a special softstart feature. It includes three-phase phase cutting of the input voltages to reduce the motor starting torque. The average voltage at the motor is reduced – and this also results in a reduced starting current, so that the motor can be started smoothly below the rated torque. The product has a width of only 22.5 mm.

CrossMT for digitisation in the control cabinet: The electronic measurement technology module CrossMT brings digitisation to the basic CrossBoard system. It adds intelligent functions and connectivity wherever the corresponding control cabinet components do not have them yet. The CrossMT measures current, voltage and temperature, calculates derivable variables such as power, energy, phase angle and frequency and can forward the resulting data via various interfaces such as USB-C, IO-Link and digital inputs and outputs.

New modules for monitoring: Wöhner also offers new modules for control cabinet monitoring in its measurement technology portfolio. The new products are available for DIN mounting rails and for direct installation in the control cabinet door and provide a comprehensive overview as a collection point for all data in the cabinet. They collect, evaluate and pass on the analyses to the user – compact and customised.

New CAPUS switch-disconnectors: The powerful CAPUS S32 and CAPUS BB32 switch-disconnector series strengthen the Panel switch range and supplement the Panel product range with updated technical features and extensive accessories. The large number of design and special variants covers a wide range of applications: The CAPUS Panel S32 switch-disconnector for the range between 160 A and 3150 A is available in a total of five different sizes as well as in 3-pole, 3+N-pole and 4-pole versions. It is particularly suitable for applications with higher rated currents. The rated voltage is 690 V, the short-circuit current resistance is up to 50 kA. In addition, there is a conditional rated short-circuit current of up to 100 kA.                         


ZVEI future projects – Wöhner is part of the team

The challenges of today can only be met in partnership. The ZVEI project "PCF@Control Cabinet" is an example of how complex topics are jointly advanced to achieve progress. The Central Association of the Electrical and Digital Industry demonstrates a future concept for implementing the Digital Product Passport in a control cabinet equipped with products from various manufacturers. Among other things, greenhouse gas emissions over the product life cycle are considered. A total of 14 companies participate interdisciplinarily and demonstrate how regulatory, legal, economic and technical requirements can be met. The project with the participation of Wöhner can be seen at the ZVEI trade fair booth B39 in hall 11.

In addition, the newly founded ZVEI working group Open DC Alliance (ODCA), which deals with the importance of direct current for the energy transition, will also be represented. In their premiere year, the ODCA partners will present DC applications for industry, and show how effective an intelligent energy supply in industry is possible with direct current. Direct current (DC) is considered a future key technology for integrating regenerative energy sources into the production process.


Wöhner booth is destination of the Guided Tour on energy efficiency 

Wöhner is one of the stops on the Guided Tour on energy efficiency. The tour through the exhibition halls stops at "energy heroes" exhibitors who use current technical innovations for concrete applications and thus achieve increased efficiency in energy consumption. According to the tour providers, the solutions from Wöhner are among the most vivid examples at the trade fair.
