CrossBoard 800 A: Wöhner presents the next generation of busbar systems

Rödental, 24th April 2024 – The CrossBoard from Wöhner, world market leader for busbar system technology and leading solution provider for the distribution and control of electrical power, has established itself and proven itself as a modular and open basic system since its market launch. Now the company is presenting a decisive upgrade – and is pushing the limit from 160 amps to 800 amps rated current: the new standard for the industry. 

Wöhner presents the next generation of busbar systems with the expansion of power distribution. The progress is enormous: the central element of the busbar system is the new hybrid busbar with a total of three interfaces for electrical and mechanical contacting: one for the rear feeding up to 800 A, one for the patented plug-in contacting of devices up to 160 A and one with the proven clamp connection for devices over 160 A. 

Like the previous version, the new version of the CrossBoard can also be combined with numerous components from the Wöhner portfolio – for power distribution solutions to suit individual requirements. 


New component in the product range: sustainable and economical

With its proven height of 200 mm, the new CrossBoard 800 A not only offers technical advantages such as particularly high short-circuit resistance, but also fulfils sustainability requirements by reducing the use of copper by up to 40 percent – while maintaining the same level of safety, of course. The geometry of the current-carrying bar is designed with the largest possible surface area so that the heat generated can be safely dissipated.

In addition, products that are compatible with the previous CrossBoard fit directly into the new system. These include, for example, the MOTUS hybrid motor starter and the electronic motor starter MOTUS C14. This means that users benefit equally from simple application, extremely high flexibility and a high sustainability factor. 

The CrossBoard 800 A covers the entire spectrum of applications – from control and automation technology to large power distribution systems. Thanks to its comprehensive certification, it can be used in all markets worldwide. 


Strengths remain: safe operation and simple installation 

Of course, the new CrossBoard version has all the advantages and features of the previous solution. Thanks to the IP20/IP40 touch-safe protection, it offers maximum safety during operation. It is also easy to install in the control cabinet – either by screw mounting or plug-and-play with rear feeding. The components are snapped tool-free onto the CrossBoard, which saves time and effort. 

Another argument: as an out-of-the-box solution that is ready for use immediately after unpacking, the entire implementation of the CrossBoard, from planning to assembly, takes little time. Last but not least, users continue to benefit from the CrossBoard's design as an open platform with options for components from other manufacturers.


Presentation in Hanover: customised solutions directly at the trade fair booth

The CrossBoard 800 A can now be planned for the creation of new applications and will be available to order from the fourth quarter of 2024. It will celebrate its official premiere at Hannover Messe 2024, where visitors to the Wöhner booth will be able to hear the product experts explain all the advantages of the new busbar system and have a specific application solution designed directly on their PC.
